TESTING: ATTENTION PLEASE! Meet Your Comics

New Comics in Toronto

Black Sheep Comedy presents TESTING. ATTENTION PLEASE! Join us for a night of stand up featuring new and experienced comics. The comedian voted as audience favourite will win a HUGE(ly underwhelming) cash prize AND a surprise item to commemorate their victory! AND our headliner for the evening is none other than Al Val!

Al Val

Al Val is a comedian, actor, writer and musician based out of Toronto. Starting his comedy career at the young age of 18, Al has since contributed his talents to program both local and national, from London Rogers TV to OutTV, MTV, and YTV. Al has built a respectable following through his unique brand of standup comedy and currently can be seen headlining shows all across North America; however, besides that he is no stranger to the improv and sketch scene, having performed with improv troupe “Starwipe” for 8 years and having graduated from Second City’s Conservative Program. Al is also the co-writer/producer/lead in the webseries “My Roommate and Friend” and can be seen as one half of the improv rock n’ roll duo “OverDude”. Between an always evolving, unique brand of comedy and large breadth of talent, Al Val’s stock as a breakthrough entertainer is surely on the rise, to say the least.

Kelly Zemnickis

Kelly Zemnickis is a Toronto-based / Montreal-born stand-up comic, writer & producer. She began her comedy career as a lighting/sound tech back in the mid 1990s, but only started her stand-up career at the tender age of 37 and has since become a regular on the stages of Toronto, Montreal and New York City! Kelly is also a contributor to the online publications Future Female Magazine, Unwritten and has written for Hello Giggles. Her documentary No Responders Left Behind (co-produced with Paradox Pictures), highlights the increasing and troubling health issues of 9/11 first responders and is currently in post-production. Kelly has been spotted talking gossip on the webseries TMZ Live and just feels ridiculously lucky that she gets to do all these things.

Samantha Baker

Samantha Baker grew up in South Detroit, also known as Windsor, Ontario. She’s new to Toronto as well as to the comedy scene.
Jennifer Hsiung

Jennifer Hsiung has a last name that no one can pronounce correctly. She loves scones,

vanilla ice cream, Game and Thrones, and her kids (perhaps in that order). The mother of three was an international television anchor for China Central Television in Beijing for 10 years (where she covered two Olympic Games, a G20 Summit, and interviewed a bunch of famous people), and has just relocated back to her hometown of Toronto last September.

She started pursuing stand-up comedy in China after baby number two came out, and made her Comedy Central debut in season three of “Stand-Up Asia!” last summer where she was featured in the first episode with Canadian comedian Sugar Sammy. She has hosted and opened for international headliners such as Ahmed Ahmed, Tony Woods, Kate Willett, Mike Ward, Mike Vechionne and Nazeem Hussein. Two months after giving birth to her third son (yep, the babies just kept coming) she competed in the 2017 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition and was the only female to reach the finals. Jennifer has been delighting and disgusting audiences throughout Asia, and now North America, with her various impersonations, classy vagina jokes, and observations about motherhood, childhood, racism, astrology, physics, pop culture, English cucumbers and everything in

between.

James Azizieh

James Azizieh, the first of his name, is a newcomer to the comedy stage and recent graduate of The Second City stand up comedy program. You don’t know him from any awards, tv shows or movies, but if you’re on Grindr then you might recognize his thumbnail before you rightfully hit “block”.  Bringing you a heavy helping of Queer Comedy, James is serving you full on rainbow eggplant realness.

Jordan Trafford

Jordan Trafford is a construction worker by day and a queer identifying comedian by night (and also all the time…) his constantly evolving and developing style can best be described as developing and constantly evolving. After his initiation to stand up comedy at The Second City Toronto, Jordan now proudly embarrasses himself in more than just one location. He has performed, bombed, and told he was okay on such shows as the Comedy appetizer, Crazy 8’s, Church Street Comedy, and most recently Don’t break the chain. When asked about his future dreams Jordan says ” I want to be the guy I feel like in the shower.”

Brandon Henderson

Brandon Henderson is a Bowmanville based comedian. A new face in the comedy scene, his humbling sense of humour and genuine desire to make people laugh shows he’s in it for the long haul.

You can see him perform in the GTA every week!
