ABOUT LEONARD CHAN
As a comedian, Leonard can be heard on CBC’s The Debaters, Laugh Out Loud, and Sirius/XM radio. He’s published on CBC Comedy and The Beaverton, and regularly appears on festivals such as Just For Laughs, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Halifax Comedy Festival, and JFL42, just to name a few. He’s worked with Ronny Chieng, Rhea Butcher, and Joel Kim Booster. Leonard’s debut performance on This Hour Has 22 Minutes went viral online, amassing hundreds of thousands of views virtually overnight. His comedy album, Peanut Butter Jelly Fish, can be found on virtually all streaming platforms.
As a comedic writer, he was one of five finalists selected for the CBC Originals Stand Up and Pitch contest at the Just For Laughs festival in 2018. He’s also spent time in the writer’s room for international TV hit Kim’s Convenience as well as This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Strays. He co-wrote Simu Liu’s “I Am a Canadian” Junos speech, has an original comedy in development with CBC, and was nominated for a 2023 Juno in the Best Writing, Variety or Sketch Comedy category.
Leonard has two degrees in chemical engineering which he now uses only as punchlines and an excessive (but still legal) number of cats.
Featuring Supporting Acts:
Desmond Choi mixes his Hong Kong roots and Toronto life, finding humour in tech headaches, new-dad struggles, and culture clashes.
Winny Clarke is a comedian and actor, residing in Toronto. She’s played in clubs across Canada and is recently back from the FemFiesta Comedy Festival in San Antonio, Texas. When she’s not on stage, you can find her across streaming platforms like Tubi, Lifetime, and Prime.
Lester Fernandes is a first-generation immigrant from India and a Permanent Resident of Canada who brings a fresh, offbeat perspective to life in Canada. With a not-so-typical Indian name and cultural background, he blends sharp observational comedy with personal stories about navigating immigrant life in Canada. From pointing out the quirks of cultural differences to sharing his hilarious takes on adjusting to a new country, Lester’s performances are lively, relatable, and guaranteed to leave audiences in stitches.
