Headliner Ian Sirota
Ian Sirota has shared the stage with: Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan, Dennis Miller, Robin Williams, Howie Mandel and Dana Carvey and headlines comedy clubs across North America. Ian was a regular cast member and writer for Comedy Inc. Comedy Now, Gutterball Alley, Mr. D, The Debaters and many more! Ian has been nominated for not one but two Gemini Awards including “Best Comedy Performance” In 2019 Ian performed at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and his gala CBC set was dubbed “Best set of the Fest” by Lara Rae Artistic Director (WCF)
Ian’s famous hoax on Jerry Springer was recently named 50th funniest moment in Canadian Comedy History by Sirius Radio. Number 50 out of the top 150 in history not too shabby.
This sharp tongued, comedian takes no prisoners and can also blend in observational humour with a family focus all the while mastering the audience with lightning crowd work.
A perfect fit for any fundraiser or corporate event Ian has been a regular contributor to Humour Me. The event turns Canada’s biggest CEO’s into stand-up comedians all to raise money for charity. To date the event has raised over 14 million. Ian’s students include shark tank celeb Michael Wekerle and Mayor Jon Tory of Toronto who took home the trophy with Ian in 2017. Ian has coached the winner of this event 5 out of the last 9 years.
Che Durena was born and raised in British Columbia, He decided to make the jump to Toronto when he discovered his love for stand-up comedy. Since then he’s been hustling the GTA comedy scene to become one of the city’s best up and comers.He came runner up in Sirius XM’S Next Top Comic, he headlined a show at JFL42 and has appeared on JFL All Access on Comedy Central.
His comedy touches on his ridiculous life living abroad and his perception of more serious matters like race, relationships and drugs. Always finding the absurd angle to create a fresh a hilarious perspective.
Luba Magnus is a staple talent in the Toronto comedy scene, with a unique style mixing her stand-up with music and drawings. She has toured across Canada, was selected to perform in the 2019 SiriusXM Top Comic competition, and was nominated as a “Breakout Comic of the Year” at the annual I Heart Jokes Awards. As an animator/Illustrator, Luba’s work has appeared on Funny or Die, CBC, PBS, and even on Toronto’s Second City Mainstage.
Desiree Walsh Is a comedian with cerebral palsy. A former competitive swimmer, she traded in early mornings swim workouts for the late nights of stand-up comedy. She has been featured on breakfast television, The Reel Abilities Film Festival Comedy Night and the now defunct show Nighttime TV on Rogers cable Mississauga.
Who is Portage?
Portage is a Canadian non-profit organisation that helps people suffering from substance abuse-related problems to overcome their dependencies and live healthy, happy, and productive lives. By providing drug addiction rehabilitation treatment, based on the therapeutic community approach, in various centres in Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario, they have helped tens of thousands of people to take back control of their lives with specialised drug rehabilitation programs for adolescents, adults, pregnant women and mothers with children, the aboriginal community, adults with mental health issues, and individuals referred by the justice system.
