Black Sheep Comedy is returning to Arch Brewing Co. in Newmarket on Saturday, April 6th with a killer lineup! Learn all about them here and then get your tickets today because they sell out fast.
Headliner Angela Maiorano-Thurston
Angela Maiorano-Thurston has performed all over North America except for Mexico, sticky passport situation. She is currently contributing comedic voiceovers for an animated series “D.N.Ace” still being animated. She’s appeared on several annoying commercials. And some made for TV movies. You might catch Angela on a Netflix movie called “Polar” don’t blink because her performance is 2.5 seconds long. Angela is also known as “Halvsie Harriet” in the popular Nickolodeon kids show “Odd Squad”.
Amish Patel
Amish’s life began as a classic fish out of water tale. From a young age he gained perspectives on both Indian and Canadian cultures and learned to deal with discrimination and xenophobia through humour. Amish loved comedy from day one but he still obtained an Aerospace Engineering degree.
After literally becoming a rocket scientist, Amish made up for lost time in comedy by writing and producing his own sketch comedy show called Fade to Brown. He produced sold out shows with crowds of over seven hundred people, gained media attention from NOW Magazine to the CBC, and acquired the funding to executive produce a sketch comedy show for Rogers Television. After Fade to Brown, Amish focused his attention on stand-up comedy and his online presence. Building a loyal online following and racking up hundreds of thousands of views on his comedy videos and becoming the host of Second City’s Diversity night. Not bad for a guy who used to work on jet engines!
Bria Hiebert
Bria Hiebert is a Canadian stand-up comic, writer and actor based in Toronto. She was the 2018 recipient of the Brian Linehan Comedy Writing and Performance Award for Outstanding Artistic Promise. Bria produces Kitchen Comedy, a secret pop-up show. She made her Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2018 and has performed at some of the best venues across Canada and the UK. Her comedy has been described as insightful, eccentric and biting. Bria is often told to smile more, to which she flashes her shiny adult braces. You can follow her shameless stream of self-promotion at twitter.com/uncleburra
Dan Brennan
Dan Brennan is a Hamilton based stand-up comic. A passionate and energetic performer, Dan’s comedy centres around his many mistakes and his inability to understand the modern world.
Sarah Boston
Sarah has had a circuitous route to the glamorous world of Stand up comedy. She is a veterinary cancer surgeon and cancer survivor. Ironic, right? Her book, LUCKY DOG: HOW BEING A VETERINARIAN SAVED MY LIFE, was published by The House of Anansi in 2014. LUCKY DOG will make you laugh and ugly cry, sometimes at the same time, most of the time out loud. Writing this book got Sarah on the path of comedy writing and eventually she found stand up. Now she can’t stop/won’t stop. Sarah has taken stand up classes at Second City and Absolute Comedy because she is a total nerd in all aspects of her life, even when it comes to stand up. She has performed in many dives in the GTA and even some nice places that don’t terrify her. She also started a satirical veterinary online newspaper called The Cageliner. It’s like The Onion, but for vet peeps. You can read it too if you want. Sarah draws inspiration from all around her because as Nora Ephron said, “Everything is copy.”

Melanie Dahling
Melanie Dahling, a recent transplant from Winnipeg, has been taking Toronto by storm with her combination of writing skills and fabulously unfabulous stage persona. You may have seen Melanie in Winnipeg Comedy Fest, SheDot Fest and ALTdot Comedy Lounge at the Rivoli.
Jessie Ralph
Jesse Ralph is a single, white, male comic straight outta Newmarket. Jesse has been described as the pretty boy with the potty mouth. How pretty he is can be debated… He performs at bars, pubs and clubs across the GTA, and has been a regular guest host at the Old Sod for Etobicoke’s Comedy Competition. When Jesse isn’t grinding it out on stage, you might find him enjoying a beverage or two at a sports bar.
And, as always, Cathy Macpherson and Darcia Armstrong are hosting.
