ABOUT THE COMEDIANS
Anjelica Scannura
Anjelica Scannura is a 2025 Just For Laughs New Face of Stand-Up and the first Canadian woman to win the Boston Comedy Festival. She also recently won the Jersey City Comedy Festival and has appeared at major festivals including the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. She has performed on iconic stages including Massey Hall and The Wilbur. Her debut comedy EP with JFL Originals can be heard on SiriusXM, and her recording with JFL Live Sessions is slated for release later this year. She was featured as part of The New Wave of Stand Up at JFL Vancouver and can also be heard on CBC’s Laugh Out Loud.
She’s opened for Shane Gillis, Joe List, Stavros Halkias, Rachel Feinstein, Tom Green, Jay Pharoah and Cipha Sounds. On screen, Anjelica has appeared in Disney’s Camp Rock and Netflix’s Little Italy, and her Don’t Tell Comedy and Just For Laughs New Faces sets can be viewed online. She recently appeared on Roast Battle Canada Season 5 at JFL Montreal and is a regular at The Stand in New York City.
Paul Hutcheson
Paul Hutcheson has produced numerous comedic solo shows which have toured Canada and the United States, playing to sold-out audiences and glowing reviews. The company produces sell out comedy events, Hutch & Friends and Hutch’s Storytime in Toronto. He can be seen on various comedy and storytelling stages in Toronto. His comedy album, Call Me Hutch produced by Howl & Roar Records will be available to stream in the spring of 2025. Freddy Jan
Freddy Jan is a Toronto based comic who uses his Afro-Caribbean background to comment on life’s most overlooked areas in a dark but playful way. His unique comedic style has led him to regularly perform at comedy venues all over the city including Yuk Yuk’s, Comedy Bar and Absolute Comedy.
Pooja Joshi
Pooja Joshi works at CBC by day and, by night, turns her deepest secrets into jokes for a room full of strangers. She has worked as an actor, writer, producer and casting director. Pooja has been performing since she was five, because therapy could only do so much. She is a jet-lagged globetrotter who has lived in Asia, Africa, Europe and now Canada. Having survived sky-diving, TTC, misogyny, freezing rain, failed auditions, and historic romantic failures. She is still accidentally hopeful.
